About the Programme

OVERVIEW
Knowing, understanding and managing our stakeholders in our everyday working lives are all essential components and ingredient of success. Particularly in the world of Project Management it is essential to be able to engage key stakeholders and pro-actively prevent and risk manage relationships so that projects succeed. So often we encounter issues to do with the identification, and management of people in projects, in teams, internal and external to the organisation. As with many of our programmes at Investors in Learning, the Engage Programme has developed as a result of customer demand. Working with project managers across Europe, we increasingly realised the positive impact of the conscious application of a tried and tested process, to people’s behaviours and communication styles. As people learned about the psychology of Self and others combined with a bespoke Stakeholder Management process, people increasingly reported feeling more effective in their communication and results with key people in their lives.
Too often we plan projects whilst we neglect a key part ingredient. Without due consideration of people on the project, we are neglecting some key factors that can impact on the project. Through careful and planned consideration of the stakeholders involved in a project, project managers become far more able to manage risk, pro-actively deal with issues that may evolve as a result of potential blockers in the process. With any project we need to have social support in order to implement and effectively deliver; there will be some people we can rely on as supporters, there may be blockers and then there will be those that are neutral in their stance to the whole project. Through the identification of the varying levels of support by stakeholders as well as being able to map the relationships, Project Managers become better at risk managing the people element of the project.
This programme is available as an ILM accredited programme.
