About the Programme

OVERVIEW
Who are these qualifications for?
The Level 3 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Leadership and Management are ideal for individuals who have management responsibilities but no formal training and are serious about developing their abilities. They particularly support practising Team Leaders seeking to move up to the next level of management, and managers who need to lead people through organisational change, budget cuts or other pressures. The qualifications are made up of a wide range of units covering core management skills – such as understanding how to organise and delegate – plus skills in communication, team leadership, change, innovation and managing people and relationships. This flexibility in unit choice allows the qualification to be tailored to meet the needs of the individual and organisation.
At Investors in Learning we recognise that every person and situation is different and therefore we have a flexible approach to delivering the programme. This can be delivered through workshops, on-line study, personalised and individual coaching and a mix of all of these methods depending on the situation.
Our programmes combine innovative design with a strong focus on workplace performance, we believe this delivers well-rounded managers with a proven ability to perform to the required standards.
The workshops are highly participative, using facilitated discussion, presentations, case studies and group work. The workshops promote reflective review, and encourage delegates to find opportunities to apply the learning in the workplace. Delegates are supported with an action learning based coaching session and will complete work-based learning assignments, which are assessed and verified by Institute for Leadership and Management in order to achieve their accreditation.

Knowing-Doing-Being framework
The Institute for Leadership and Management Knowing, Doing, Being framework takes into account all aspects of good leadership and management and how it works in practice.
It recognises the need for rounded development – technical knowledge, capability and personal awareness.
- Knowing is the body of skills and technical knowledge you need to manage effectively – fundamental know-how around finance, marketing and planning.
- Doing is putting that knowledge into practice. For example being good at leading teams or managing projects – not just knowing the theory.
- Being is about self-awareness, values and integrity. Great leaders understand the impact they have on others, are confident, have a strong framework of values. They have the emotional intelligence to engage others and engender trust.
How we use the Knowing, Doing, Being framework
All Investors in Learning programmes bring together all three elements of the framework – developing the whole person by combining:
- Insight into personal qualities
- Formal structured learning
- Transfer of knowledge into action at the workplace
