About the Programme
OVERVIEW
This programme overview illustrates how the three Lessons Learned programmes work together in order to develop an Agile Lessons Learned Culture. Culture Change is a commitment to working with values and beliefs. Without this commitment there will not be sustainable change, and people will always go back to the known habits. Therefore people need to have a reason to engage in any new processes or approaches that may seem alien at the outset.
We have designed three unique programmes in order to develop the roles necessary to create a sustainable Lessons Learned culture.
⭐ These programmes can be taken individually or in a three step process, depending on your business objectives and vision.
The steps below show the progression of the three programmes:

Culture Change is a commitment to working with values and beliefs. Without this commitment there will not be sustainable change, and people will always go back to the known habits. Therefore people need to have a reason to engage in any new processes or approaches that may seem alien at the outset.
We have designed three unique programmes in order to develop the roles necessary to create a sustainable Lessons Learned culture.
⭐ These programmes can be taken individually or in a three step process, depending on your business objectives and vision.
The steps below show the progression of the three programmes:
Step 1 - Introduction to Lessons Learned Processes
[↑ click to read more]The first step is to engage people with a foundational programme, which introduces the whole concept, principles and practices underpinning a culture of Lessons Learned and Agility. This is for all people who will be involved in Lessons Learned so that the necessary foundation and awareness is instilled, and all develop an understanding of the importance of developing a Lessons Learned culture across the organisation, and the role that they will play in the success. People will not share their stories and their lessons if they do not understand why they are doing so and are not clear about the bigger picture purpose. This is also intended to create the safety and reassurance necessary for all to share their learning.
Step 2 - Becoming a Lessons Learned Practitioner
[↑ click to read more]To train Lessons Learned Practitioners in the essential skills, Lessons Learned processes, thinking and decision making processes, problem solving techniques, and agile methodologies; the skills in facilitating meetings and workshops and to create the Learning environment necessary to hear and record people’s stories, issues, challenges and successes.
Step 3 - Becoming a Lessons Learned Ambassador
[↑ click to read more]Here we train Lessons Learned Ambassadors in order to have designated people with the role and responsibility to encourage the Agile Lessons Learned culture and to be the agent for change to propagate the essential values, behaviours and psychological safety whilst stimulating open and honest conversation.
Please see the attached document for more information on the three programmes and the way in which they work together to develop a Lessons Learned Culture.
You can choose to take all these programmes individually with optional accreditation. All the programmes are accredited through the ILM, which is a recognised Awarding Organisation for Leadership and Management qualifications founded in 1878 and is incorporated by Royal Charter. This provides an additional quality benefit and reassurance. It encourages collaboration and culture building ensuring that there is a team approach and deepening of relationships, as all are aiming for qualifications together. It also strengthens credibility as you are gaining confidence and raising the motivation and engagement of people within your own organisation. You can read more about the benefits of ILM accreditation here.

Lessons Learned Management Online Platform
The Lessons Learned online management platform plays an integral and important role in the resources needed to develop a Continuous Learning Culture. We will discuss and decide with you in advance whether you wish to use this, however we highly recommend including this as part of your processes and strategy. When applying Lessons Learned processes, we need to ensure that data/ information and the learning is captured and that the Lessons Learned are available to others. Otherwise we are not creating efficiencies with our knowledge management. This is why we have a Lessons Learned management platform which forms an integral part of this programme.
Here are some key steps involved in the process of capturing and disseminating Lessons Learned:
- Sharing stories
- Analysing the stories and creating data and new understanding
- Extracting the key learning points
- Recording the learning
- Sharing and disseminating the learning across the team or organisation
- Making the data and learning available for others to use so we maximise the efficiency of the knowledge management

So, we can see how central the recording process is to the whole process. Our online platform ensures that there is an online secure and confidential space where information can be recorded, stored and retrieved. This therefore allows everyone to be sure that their lessons will not get lost and that the learning accumulates over time to create an ever increasing foundation and knowledge base for the organisation. It ensures that the information and learning from the mistakes and successes are there in order to ensure that learning is applied in the future, and people do not have to go through the same mistakes and learning again and again.
The importance of Leaders in the successful development of culture building
We will always work closely with leaders to plan the programmes and the organisational design in order to ensure we understand the results that you are seeking, and to ensure that the right people are taking on the right roles in this process. It is essential that the various roles in the organisation are planned in advance of the training and that we have clarity on the roles and responsibilities that everyone will have post training. Therefore there will be crucial time spent with the leaders and any key stakeholders in ensuring that the organisational design is discussed and created for optimum success and so that all can implement the Lessons Learned processes with clarity, high motivation, engagement and no delay. It is also important to note that in order to achieve success with these programmes, it is essential that the leaders are fully on board and that the values and messages are clear across the team or organisation where you are wishing to implement this solution.
Therefore, it is recommended for leaders who are planning to implement a Lessons Learned culture, to take part in our programme Building a Courageous and Agile Learning Culture. This will lay the Leadership foundations and the understanding of the benefits of creating a supportive and self-managing Continuous Learning Culture of which Lessons Learned processes are a key part. It will help to instil the beliefs that are so crucial in the creation and living of values and it will ensure that the leadership team are all on the same page in terms of the future they are seeking to create. Please see here for the details of this programme.
